Sandberg's Lean In Invites Regional Leaders From U.S. & Abroad
7:14:00 PMIn just a couple days, Julene Allen, Lean In Dayton's Founder, also a LeanIn.Org Regional Leader, will be attending the annual Lean In Regional Leaders conference being held in Palo Alto, 35 miles south of San Francisco, California. The conference invites Lean In’s Regional Leaders from all over the world to attend for training. Chapter leaders from areas such as Barcelona, Belfast, Malaysia and Pakistan will be participating to help spread messages of women’s empowerment and equality in their prospective regions.
After relocating from Chicago, Julene Allen founded the local Lean In Chapter in September of 2015 to further women’s empowerment resources in Dayton. While residing in the Windy City, she started the international nonprofit, Women For Action which interviews under-recognized women of significance in different parts of the world. In conjunction with the organization’s mission, she pledged to locate and interview 100 women innovators in Dayton. The interview series is ongoing and expects to complete its goal by the end of 2017.
Lean In Dayton is a stakeholder in empowering women for leadership in Dayton. The city and its surrounding region are rich with women serving at the top, who influence and inspire those that are aiming to get there. The chapter has devoted itself to bridging the gap between women leaders and developing talent.
The Lean In local leader hopes to bump into one of the most powerful women in the world, Lean In’s Founder Sheryl Sandberg, also the Chief Operating Officer of Facebook. Additionally, to further the chapter’s mission and goals, Julene anticipates that the annual conference in Palo Alto being held between the dates of August 11th through the 14th will assist her with the growth of the new chapter. “I am interested in building our chapter’s relationships with the surrounding community. So I endeavor to locate more tools that would enable Lean In Dayton to facilitate and strengthen its relationship with members, women leaders and businesses.”
Lean In Dayton holds regular meetings with its members. Professionals and leaders who join can build upon their support within the community by participating in chapter activities. Also, the chapter organizes educational events such as film screenings, lectures, and talks. To join the chapter for free, sign up on the web at http://leanincircles.org/chapter/lean-in-dayton.
